If you are from a country,
which is served by our
distributor, you are
advised to contact them for requesting an evaluation copy, or
when just having questions about our tools.
When you are from a country where we do not have an appointed
distributor, you need to contact directly to here Testwell.
Starting point...
As background, noting that arranging an
evaluation
copy, including all the technical and other
communications that it involves, is a bit laborious process to us. So,
we hope that you would understand us in the following
regard:
Firstly, on our web pages in the tool descriptions we have tried to
describe openly and in a technically meaningful way what our tools do
and how they can be used. There are also examples of the tool usage
results that you can study. There is no additional other
big/unadvertised functionality in them. Substantially that is what our
tools do. So, your first evaluation round should be to study the
tool descriptions at our web pages. If it turns out that our tool is
clearly missing
some functionality that is a "must" to you, it presumably is a waste of
work, yours and ours, to even ask an evaluation copy of the tool. (But,
if you have time, an email to us saying "Your tool x is otherwise
promising, but it seems to be lacking the following ..." would be very
much appreciated).
Then, noting that we seek customers who understand that the Testwell
tools are
commercial tools: they have a price and they are supported. We hope our
customers to share the opinion that if a testing tool comes to
real
production use, and if the tool does what is needed, the tool's initial
license
fee is rather marginal in the big picture. We wish to grant evaluation
copies only to potential customers, who are
committed to carry out the evaluation during the allocated period and
are considering for purchase, and seriously consider our tool as one
candidate.
We expect the information exchange be open and fair. We
clearly want to know with whom we are talking with, what is the reason
to ask the evaluation copy or some information, and what is the overall
picture of the case or reason to your contact.
The evaluation copy is a fully functional version of the tool. The
evaluation is free of cost and it includes technical support by email.
The evaluation period expires, depending on the tool and other
circumstances, normally in 5-20 days when the tool downloading has been
made available.
Required background
information...
Please construct and send in an email the
following information (* mandatory) when asking for evaluation copies:
- Your company's full name [please specify also your
division/department/...] (*), web-address (*),
street address (*) [all these of your site of evaluation].
- Your name (*) and title/position (*) [i.e. your role
in
this evaluation process],
- Contact information at work: email (*) [we assume
this be from your
company's domain, not a so called free email address; we assure that
your email address is not misused], phone/fax
number (*).
- Of what tools you would like to get the evaluation
copy (*).
- What is the environment where you would be doing the
evaluation: machine type (*), operating system and its version (*). See
the detailed list of platforms where we have the tools available.
- When CTC++ or CTA++ tools: What is the
compiler brand and version (*) for doing the builds. Also, how the
builds are done (in command-line mode, via IDE,...) which the tool
should be usable with. A concrete example of your typical build command
would be useful to understand your technical environment.
- When CTC++ tool: If the question is of a cross
development case, what is the host development environment, what is the
cross compiler brand and version and how
the
builds for the target are done. What is the target machine architecture.
- If you have interest on multiple (host) development
environments, note that the evaluation copy is delivered
only on one (host) environment. Please specify the environment where
you want to do the evaluation. But for curiosity and possible
evaluation later what is the role and importance of the
secondary environments that you have in mind.
- Reason why you wish to get the evaluation copy (*).
Here we would also like to hear something about your situation, which
can be relevant when assessing the applicability of
our tools in your case (what is your company/development team doing,
how big is your team, what you expect to solve with our tool(s), your
mindset on how you might be using them, when you expect to purchase the
tool, if you find a good one, etc.). Effectively we want to read that
we have a business case at hand.
- Your explicit "yes" acceptance (*) to send us the
evaluation feedback/close-up notification (see below what it should
cover) once the
evaluation period is
over
[at latest on the next working day when the evaluation period is
expired].
Besides the above information additional emailing may be needed for
constructing the license strings or for correctly understanding some
technical backgrounds.
During the evaluation you
are encouraged to actively and openly send technical questions to our
support for ensuring the most correct evaluation result.
Evaluation
feedback/close-up notification....
As the
evaluation feedback/close-up notification an email with
the following contents
is assumed (covering each tool whose evaluation copy you have received):
- How long time (hours/days/...) you approximately
spent with the tool.
- In what way (command-line/IDE/...) you used the tool.
How many use cases. With what kind of "volumes".
- What were your major findings,
both good and bad,
compared to your needs and expectations. The more concrete and
technically meaningful your feedback is, the better. We do not expect
it to be your
company's official statement of our tool, just the evaluator's findings
"as is" and whatever they may be, when the evaluation copy can no more
be used. Also we do not expect any technical
comparisons to other tools that you have possibly evaluated.
- Your tool selection status: decision open /
evaluating still other tools / best candidate so far / ruled out your
tool / when expecting to decide / ... Simply the status "as is".
- Your statement that you have uninstalled the tool,
deleted all the received tool materials and deleted all the tool
generated files and their copies.
Any excerpts of your
feedback report or your name won't be used in our marketing.
We understand that necessarily you do not select our tool, but if so we
want
to know why. Our
motives for requiring the feedback report are that we wish to learn how
our tools meet the customers' needs, where we should develop our tools,
and that the evaluation gets
decently closed. About the evaluation feedback/close-up point, we've
already had enough sad experiences of
evaluators, who have not kept their promises.... So, please, take this
point
seriously.
When the background information of your case is clear and accepted, we
will advise the tool download from our web pages.
